Realtor Safety Tips
Be Safe
-
Follow these simple Realtor Safety Tips
The Life You Save May Be Your Own
- Always keep a cell phone at your side.
..and program 911 on your speed dial.
- Make sure to tell someone who you are
with and where you are going…and when you
expect to return. Leave the name and phone
number of the person you are meeting.
- Always park so that you will not be
blocked in.
- Have a distress code and use it anytime
you feel uneasy. Predetermine which words
are your distress codes and share it with
your family and colleagues.
- Avoid glamour shot photography. Keep
your marketing material polished and
professional – not glamorous.
- Use your office and cell phone numbers
in your marketing material – never your home
number. And never use your home address in
any printed material.
- Know whom you are dealing with – It’s a
good idea to always meet new clients at the
office and keep a copy of their driver’s
license. A legitimate client will never
object to completing a Client ID form.
- Get a new client’s car make and tag
number and leave it at the office.
- Take precautions at open houses. Work in
pairs if at all possible. Pay attention and
listen to your instincts.
- Avoid being isolated – because that’s
when a predator will strike.
- If a predator attempts to control you
while you’re driving your car, don’t do what
you’re told! Stay calm – and stay on routes
with traffic and crowds of people it
possible. As you come to a stoplight or
sign, move your car against a parked car so
the predator can’t open the door. Stop
abruptly so he is thrown forward and jump
out of the car as quickly as possible. Take
advantage of any situation where you can get
away.
- Never fail to take precautions because a
potential client tells you they are from out
of town and have a short period of time to
look at homes.
- Don’t wear expensive jewelry or flash
money around.
- Avoid basements and always walk behind
your clients.
- Always…always listen to your gut
feelings. These are signals that something
isn’t right.
